Eating: Mundane or Insane?

Today? Insane. Often the best laid plans end in disaster. Tonight was no exception. After a lengthy vacation, my parents returned home earlier this afternoon. Weary from their travels, and ailed by hunger, they suggested we go out and grab a bite instead of cooking (and rightly so, cooking indoors when it’s hot outside is just uncomfortable). After the normal struggle of deciding which place sucks the least out of our usual repertoire of restaurant selections, we settled on a local brewery about 20 miles away which serves top notch food in their adjacent dining room. Planned Parenthood: Not an Abortion Clinic

Sigh. I haven’t been entirely happy lately. Because of this, I have maintained a level of apathy when it comes to actually putting my rants down on paper, hence a lack of activity on the site. But there are some things so asinine that they cut right through this apathy like a shiv through a prisoner. Take the protestors in front of Planned Parenthood as a prime example. Snow Days

Snow. As children, when we hear the magic word we spring over to the windows at night and although it is pitch black outside, we manage to see those beautiful white specks falling to the ground. The next morning, we wake up bright and early to confirm that our school is closed and that in fact we do have a snow day. Where as adults see a bitch of a commute, lack of daytime childcare, and a week’s worth of icy roadways and cluster-fucks of traffic (yes that is the scientific measurement for herds of crappy iced over roadways). When do we loose this inner child that prays every night before they go to bed that there will be snow? Even in the middle of summer. Read the rest of this entry »
